It’s been a while since I packed my camera and hit the road to explore new towns of Croatia. The last road trip was all the way back in early November when I spent two days in Slavonija. After a long break, it was finally time to go again – and what better day to do it than the first day of spring?
With only one free day in my schedule, I kept things simple. I decided to focus on Istria, one of my favorite regions, and explore a few places I hadn’t visited before. Kvarner was also in the mix during the planning phase – there are several locations there still waiting to be photographed – but this time, Istria won.
I started by listing the towns I’d like to see, and in the end, the plan included Pićan, Bale, and Završje. All three were completely new to me, and that’s what made the trip even more exciting. I also had Oprtalj on the optional list – close to Završje and worth a stop if time and energy allowed. Luckily, I had both!
Even though the sky stayed cloudy the entire day, it felt great to be back on the road with the camera in hand. The lack of sunshine didn’t bother me too much – after months without a proper photo trip, just being out there was enough.
