Sometimes, it’s the unexpected details that make a road trip memorable. While walking around Ludbreg on a sunny November afternoon, I stumbled upon this giant moon mural taking up the entire side of a building. It wasn’t something I had planned to find — but that’s exactly what made it worth stopping for.
This photo shows the impressive mural located near the center of Ludbreg. The artwork covers the side of a hotel building and is hard to miss if you’re exploring the town on foot. Against the clear blue sky, the detailed painting of the moon creates a unique contrast to the otherwise simple streetscape. It’s a cool example of how smaller Croatian towns mix everyday life with bursts of creativity.
Ludbreg itself is a fascinating place, known as the “Center of the World” according to local legend. While the town is famous for its historical and religious significance, little touches like this mural add another layer to the experience. It’s reminders like this that exploring beyond the major tourist spots often pays off in surprising ways.
If you enjoy finding hidden gems like this, there’s plenty more to see.
