I have never visited Omišalj, up until this beautiful day in late March. When I was making a list what places should I visited during my one day roadtrip to Krk, I wanted to visited a place where I have never been. So, that’s how I found myself in Omišalj on a beautiful Sunday morning.
I came there just after the mass ended, so people were starting to walk away from the church and from the old part of the city. The funny thing is that after they left the city center, it felt like I was the only human being there! For probably half an hour, during my walk around the city, I have only seen two cats, and that was it! It was a pleasant and a bit weird feeling, but I kinda liked it! I want to visit it during the summer months when people spend their afternoons on the city square, which is a really nice place.
So, after my experience during my trip to Omišalj, let’s see what the internet has to say about this city.

Each year, Omišalj comes alive with the Festival pučkog teatra, a vibrant celebration of folk dramatic expression that attracts performers and audiences alike to the historic Prikešte Square and the ancient castle in Grobnik. These events not only entertain but also preserve and promote the rich cultural traditions of the region.
Omišalj, with its deep historical roots, cultural vitality, and stunning natural surroundings, is an indispensable stop for any traveler to the island of Krk. It offers a unique blend of experiences for history enthusiasts, nature lovers, and those seeking an authentic slice of Croatian life.
Today, Omišalj is recognized for its strategic importance, hosting the Rijeka Airport and the Port of Rijeka oil terminal. Yet, amidst its industrial roles, Omišalj has beautifully preserved its historical essence and the breathtaking natural scenery that encircles it.
