People say Zadar has one of the most beautiful sunsets in the world, and honestly, it’s not an exaggeration. I’ve seen a lot of golden hours during my travels, but this one hits differently. What makes it even better is experiencing it at the “Greetings to the Sun” installation — a modern, circular solar-powered artwork that becomes especially striking as daylight fades.
This photo was taken right as the sun dipped into the sea. The silhouettes of visitors watching the scene, some walking, others standing still, created a peaceful rhythm against the reflective surface of the installation. The reflections make the light feel endless — you’re not just looking at the sunset, you’re inside it.
The installation was designed by Croatian architect Nikola Bašić, the same mind behind the nearby Sea Organ. Both were built as part of a project to redefine Zadar’s waterfront after the war. Today, this place draws travelers from all over the world, many just to stand here and take in this moment of light and sound.
